Belize Now: November 2026 Weather, Events and Closures

November is a transition month in Belize. The National Meteorological Service describes June to November as the main rainy-season period and November to May as the dry season. Rain, changing sea conditions and weather-related activity restrictions can still affect travel plans at the start of the month. (National Meteorological Service of Belize)

Last checked: 2 November 2026. The weather and closure information below reflects the latest public reports I could verify at the time of research. Check the official forecast and contact operators again before travelling.

November weather: warm conditions with showers possible

The latest readable NMS forecast I found was issued on Sunday, 1 November. It described sunny periods mixed with cloud, with showers and a medium chance of isolated thunderstorms. Coastal and offshore areas could experience morning showers, while central and southern inland areas could see more activity during the afternoon.

The reported forecast highs were around 87°F along the coast, 91°F inland and 76°F in the hills. Overnight lows were expected to range from approximately 77°F on the coast to 64°F in the hills. The marine outlook reported northeast winds of 5–10 knots and waves of 1–4 feet. The forecast outlook for Monday, 2 November, mentioned a few coastal morning showers, becoming isolated by afternoon.

These figures are a dated forecast snapshot, not a forecast for the rest of November. Check the NMS general forecast and marine forecast for updated conditions. The NMS issues separate products for general weather, districts and marine areas.

Cave and river activity: check the latest closure notice

Travelers planning cave tubing should pay particular attention to Nohoch Che’en in the Cayo District.

A notice issued by the Institute of Archaeology under the National Institute of Culture and History (IA/NICH), reported on 23 October, said that all water-based tour activities at Nohoch Che’en remained suspended because of elevated river conditions. The same report stated that Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM) and Barton Creek were open at that time.

Therefore, do not assume Nohoch Che’en cave tubing is operating. Confirm the status directly with NICH or a licensed operator before booking or travelling to the reserve.

    Garifuna Settlement Day: 19 November

Garifuna Settlement Day takes place on 19 November. Travel Belize lists celebrations in communities including Dangriga, Hopkins, Punta Gorda and San Pedro, among others. The tourism board describes the Yurumein reenactment as beginning at approximately 6:30 a.m., followed by community celebrations, drumming and parades.

The exact programme can vary by community and year. Confirm local start times, access arrangements, road restrictions and event details with the community or organizer before making a special trip.

What travelers should do this month?

    • Check the NMS general, district and marine forecasts before boat trips and inland excursions.
    • Confirm cave, river and archaeological-site access with NICH or the relevant licensed operator.
    • Check whether the Xunantunich ferry restriction has changed before visiting.
    • Confirm Garifuna Settlement Day schedules with the community you plan to visit.
    • Keep one flexible day in your itinerary in case weather affects a tour or transfer.
    • Read cancellation and rescheduling terms before paying for activities.

    Final Thoughts

November can be a rewarding time to experience Belize’s culture and travel between the islands and mainland, but conditions are not identical across the country. Check the latest official notices, confirm activities locally and keep your itinerary flexible.
